“When we cultivate a mood of calm repose in our homes, we are scooping out a space of reflection and wonder, for contemplation and reverie. Our children are exposed to incessant commotion in the world that exists beyond our walls. Let home be the place where they can find the peace and quiet to make sense of it all.”

I love everything about this quote! It’s just the medicine we need to ingest in our busy, loud times. I wish I could say that my home each day is a haven of peace and calmness. I have boys. Enough said, right? :) It is SO loud throughout the day in my home. The teasing of siblings, the incessant screeching of kids goofing off, and more. I think the loudness of my kids just being kids has made me more of an introvert. I crave quiet moments, and times to just sit in my garden and ponder.
Yet, this quote is my daily goal. I want my home to be a refuge from the storms of life, a safe place where my family knows they are loved beyond measure. I love that they have warm beds to crawl into at night, stories to hear, and special blankets to soothe them.
Look at your home, and pick one tiny thing you can improve on to increase the calmness. One tiny thing. No need to get overwhelmed. A few flowers on the table, a tidied up room, a basket with books to enjoy. One tiny thing.
