I’ve been listening to “The Alison Show” podcasts, and goodness, this gal has so much contagious energy! She’s a riot. The podcast tour episodes are especially fun, filled with laughter and the sounds of a packed house of happy people ready to be uplifted.

Kids are wonderful little people to photograph. They have their unique quirks, big emotions, and endless supply of energy. It’s very simple to take a quick portrait shot of children, having them smile at the camera, and call it a day. Yet, I like to go beyond that. I simply do one basic thing; I talk to them. I talk before I start firing away. I try to see what their interests are, and I try my best to be genuinely interested. Nothing makes a little one happier than realizing that someone is listening to them, and showing an interest in their little joys.

I set a goal for this year to begin blogging consistently again. I just began this goal yesterday, so hooray for progress! Blogging on my photography website has been daunting for me in the past. I used to think that I could only blog when I had a photo session to share, and I needed to have the family’s life story to share with the post. No quite so. I’m thankful for the education I have discovered recently on the importance of blogging.
